Only 21 percent of students between ages 16 and 22 say they have taken a personal finance course at school

Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens is Tremendous!

Review by James Jenkins. The latest installment in the highly acclaimed Rich Dad series of books, “Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens: The Secrets About Money - That You Don't Learn in School” by Robert Kiyosaki with Sharon Lechter, is an energetic, fast paced book which delivers a wonderful message to today’s youth.

Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens shares many of the same powerful messages as Kiyosaki’s adult bestseller Rich Dad Poor Dad and even though it is written specifically for the teenagers, many adults will also find that it is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

"In 2001 more young people declared bankruptcy than graduated from college."
    The American Bankruptcy Institute

Written in his wonderful story telling style Kiyosaki relates his own teenage experiences growing up with the strong influences of both his real father “poor dad” and his best friend Mike’s father “rich dad”.

“I learned a lot from both dads. They each believed in education but had completely different view on money. One cared about money a lot (Mike’s dad) and one didn’t care very much about money at all (my dad). One worried about never having enough money (my dad). One thought about money and how to achieve power over it (Mike’s dad).”
Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens: The Secrets About Money - That You Don't Learn in School, Robert Kiyosaki with Sharon Lechter

Kiyosaki keeps the audience actively engaged by asking the reader to carefully analyze the different ways they learn, to keep a journal of thoughts, feelings and experiences with money, introduces money making ideas and describes the hazards of bad debt.

The hazards of bad debt for today’s generation are particularly alarming when we consider the following:

Seventy percent of college undergraduates have at least one credit card, and 20% ... of the students who carry balances on their cards have debts of more than $10,000.

Written with a positive underlying message, Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens is a very important book that does a wonderful job of introducing financial education to today’s generation.
